30 April 2025 – Tersan Shipyard has contracted Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) to act as system integrator and deliver power and automation systems for two vessels that the Turkish shipyard is constructing for an undisclosed shipowner.
In addition to its role as system integrator, NES’ scope of supply includes the complete power system, including batteries, control system, AC/DC switchboards, and an integrated automation system (IAS). Further, NES will deliver a MCS (Megawatt Charging System) charging plug that connects the vessels to onshore charging stations.
“The charging plug will be delivered for a certain battery power and charging effect but will be prepared to handle an increase in battery and charging effects at a later stage. It is a smart and inexpensive way of further future-proofing these vessels,” says Mads Ulstein, SVP Sales at NES.
NES will make all equipment deliveries during 2026. The Norwegian company will manage the project out of Norway, while its office in Turkey will deliver the AC switchboard and support commissioning at Tersan Shipyard in Turkey.
